At the time of publication, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom had about 80 reviews on Metacritic with an average score of 86%. On Opencritic the picture is similar – slightly less than 40 materials and 85% (the game is recommended by 89% of reviewers).

According to the story, rifts began to appear in Hyrule, in which civilians disappeared, including the swordsman Link. Armed with a magic staff and enlisting the support of the fairy Tri, Princess Zelda sets out to save the kingdom.

Reviewers praise the gameplay freedom afforded by the core mechanics, inventive puzzles, solid level design, the return of classic dungeons, pleasing graphics, and an orchestral soundtrack.

The disadvantages of the project included the unrealized potential of the central ideas, awkward battles using echoes, a simple plot, cumbersome menus and regular (although not too serious) drops in frame rate.

Critics agree that The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was a memorable adventure that combined old and new schools of Zelda design, but didn’t quite live up to its potential.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom releases tomorrow, September 26th, only on Nintendo Switch. Nintendo has timed a new 50-second gameplay trailer (attached above) to coincide with the upcoming release.
