Microsoft is testing the next update for the Windows 11 Task Manager – it will be able to display not only the type of drive used in the computer (SSD or HDD), but also its connection type (NVMe, SATA or USB). Currently, Manager only displays basic information about the data store.

«Task Manager in Windows 11 continues to evolve, receiving new features in the latest Insider Beta 22635.4225 that will allow you to display more information about the drive. Although this feature is not yet active by default, it has already attracted interest from users who want to know more about their hardware. The team from Windows Latest was able to enable the option to show disk information in the Task Manager and get information about its type.

While displaying the drive bus type can be seen as a positive change, users are expecting Microsoft to add even more important information in the Performance section. First of all, we are talking about the temperature of the drives. Now you can only see the temperature of video cards, but not the central processor. To verify information, users have to go through too many steps to find this information in their system settings.

Not having such important information at hand can lead to equipment failure due to overheating. To check the CPU temperature, you must either install a third-party utility or go into the BIOS, which is not always convenient. Experts believe that adding the ability to monitor temperature in the Task Manager will greatly simplify people’s lives and increase the overall reliability of the system.
