Sam Altman: there are several thousand days left until the emergence of superintelligence and the beginning of a bright future

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman published a blog post in which he stated that in “a few thousand days” superintelligence will appear in the world. And the consequence of its emergence will not be a technology-induced dystopia, but “mass prosperity.”

Altman admitted that achieving superintelligence may take a little longer than he expected, but it will happen and soon we “will be able to do what our grandparents would have thought was magic.” “We are more capable not because of genetic changes, but because we use for good the infrastructure of a society that is much smarter and more capable than any of us; in an important sense, society itself is a form of developed intelligence,” says Sam Altman. Artificial intelligence, in his opinion, will solve “complex problems” and set the foundation that will help people achieve a bright future.

In this future, he says, everyone will have their own “personal AI team” to solve everyday problems, and “virtual experts” will be woven into everyday life to greatly simplify it. Virtual tutors will make the learning process stress-free because they will understand the individual needs of each child. Everyone will receive the necessary education and important skills that will help them succeed in a job-rich world and provide society with prosperity unimaginable today.

At the same time, Sam Altman admits that some problems lie ahead for humanity, including a painful restructuring of the labor market. But this issue will be resolved, and, as Karl Marx promised, man will be freed from exhausting work and will be able to enjoy what he loves in life.
