The author of the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything, Zach Nelson, known for his videos testing the durability of gadgets, tested the iPhone 16 Pro Max smartphone with a Desert Titanium color case for resistance to external influences.

The blogger noted the appearance of a new Camera Control touch button on Apple smartphones to control camera functions. The button is protected from damage by a durable sapphire crystal, which he tested for durability. JerryRigEverything tried to scratch it with a special tool, adding a harder one with each step. When using a tool with a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale, scratches appeared on the surface of the button, which confirms the sapphire coating. At the same time, the blogger noted that this is not pure sapphire, as evidenced by its heterogeneous structure, which appears when trying to scratch it. JerryRigEverything also tried to determine the purity of the sapphire used using a special device, but this proved to be a problem for him.

The screen of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, as well as the coating of the camera lenses, proved to be quite resistant to scratches, which cannot be said about the titanium alloy body of the smartphone, which is as easy to scratch as one made of anodized aluminum.

At the same time, the screen showed high resistance to the effects of lighter fire. Also, the smartphone turned out to be resistant to bending, regardless of the point of application of pressure – from the front panel or the back. JerryRigEverything promised to disassemble the smartphone in the future to find out the reasons for such increased stability.
