X’s newly appointed lawyers in Brazil, Andre Zonaro and Sergio Rosenthal, said that Rachel de Oliveira Conceicao has become the company’s official representative in the country – her name has been filed in the Supreme Court. Brazilian law requires foreign companies to appoint legal representatives in the country to operate in the country. At the local level, such a person takes legal responsibility for the company.

Until mid-August, X had such a person in Brazil, but the company subsequently decided to close its offices in the country. The platform refused to name his successor, and at the end of the month the Supreme Court ordered local telecom operators to block X. This was preceded by a months-long dispute between Musk and Brazilian judge Alexandre de Moraes over the social network’s failure to comply with court orders to block accounts whose owners speak out. involved in the case of inciting hatred. Brazilian courts have previously issued orders to block such accounts, but Musk regarded their actions as manifestations of censorship. This week it became known that the platform has begun to comply with court orders.
