Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) has introduced a new battery, Tianxing-B (Tectrans B), which is designed for use in electric buses. According to the developers, the energy storage density in the new battery is 175 Wh/kg, and its main feature is increased wear resistance. The battery can provide up to 1.5 million kilometers or be used for 15 years.

During the online presentation of Tianxing-B, it was said that the company will provide a 10-year or 1 million km warranty for the new product. Thanks to a housing that protects the battery from moisture according to the IP69 standard, the battery can be submerged for up to 72 hours. CATL plans to use Tianxing-B in 80 different electric bus models and has already partnered with 13 electric vehicle manufacturers, including Dongfeng, Golden Dragon and Yutong Bus.

It is noted that CATL uses different names for the Tianxing-B battery. Sometimes it is called Tianxing Bus Edition or Tianxing B-series. The brand itself previously bore the name Tianxing, but at a recent event dedicated to the presentation of the battery in Germany, CATL called it Tectrans. Under the Tianxing brand, the company produces batteries for commercial electric vehicles.

One of the new products of the stud division is the Tianxing-L battery for passenger cars, providing a capacity of up to 200 kWh, an energy storage density of 200 Wh/kg with a guarantee for 8 years or 800 thousand km. It also supports 4C fast charging technology, which can replenish 60% of energy in 12 minutes.
