Saber Interactive has changed its mind about buying out Metro developers from Embracer – 4A Games is preparing two blockbusters

The March story with the withdrawal of Saber Interactive from the Swedish holding Embracer Group continued. The companies have resolved the issue of the future of 4A Games (Metro) and Zen Studios (Pinball).

Let us remember that Embracer sold Saber and a number of its assets (including 38 games in development) for $247 million, but the former division had an option to buy out 4A Games and Zen Studios, which, according to Bloomberg, it intended to exercise.

As it became known, six months later, all financial aspects of the deal between Embracer and Saber have finally been fully settled: 4A Games and Zen Studios will still remain part of the Swedish holding.

Speaking to Bloomberg, Saber CEO Matthew Karch said the company had considered buying out 4A Games, but ultimately “decided it was best for all parties” for the studio to remain with Embracer.

«We are pleased with this transaction and are pleased that the teams and assets of 4A Games and Zen Studios will remain part of Embracer. They will be important elements of our further journey,” said Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors.

In a press release regarding the settlement of the financial aspects of the deal, Wingefors also said that 4A Games has “two AAA games in development that we can’t wait to announce.”

The next numbered Metro from 4A Games was confirmed back in November 2020, but has not yet been fully presented. Last winter, Deep Silver (the publisher of the games in the series) hinted that the new part would be released before 2030.
