Today Apple began accepting pre-orders for smartphones of the iPhone 16 family. Sales of new products will start on September 20, but the most popular models will have to wait until October – the first batches have already been completely sold out at the pre-order stage. This is not the first year in a row that this has happened.
Soon after the start of pre-orders, it became clear which models of the iPhone 16 series are in greatest demand. The iPhone 16 Pro Max turned out to be the most scarce – just a few hours after the start of pre-orders in the US, there was not a single version of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, not a single color, that could be ordered for delivery on the launch day. If you pre-order now, you will have to wait until October 7–14.
The situation with the availability of the iPhone 16 Pro is almost the same – only the 128 GB version in black could still be ordered for delivery on September 20. The rest will have to wait at least until the period from September 30 to October 2, and some versions until October 2–7. Most likely, in the near future, delivery times for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro max will stretch even further.
According to the portal 9to5mac, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models in black with a 512 GB drive are in greatest demand. There is also high demand for white versions. But the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max in the new desert color turned out to be more affordable, but this may not be due to less demand, but to the fact that Apple prepared more such smartphones in the first batch.
However, there are no problems with the availability of the regular iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus – each version in each color can be ordered for delivery on September 20. This once again confirms that iPhone Pro models are in higher demand among Apple fans. Let’s remember that earlier analysts predicted that, according to Apple’s calculations, Pro-series models will provide about 67% of sales, while regular iPhones will account for only 33% in unit terms.
