Microsoft has promised that updating Windows 11 to version 24H2 will bring improvements to display performance, in particular, thanks to support for HDR technology. However, after installing the update, some users encountered various problems with their screens.
According to the resource MSPoweruser, one of the users of the Reddit forum complained that after installing the update, the system began to select its second monitor as the main display, and not the main one, and attempts to change the settings lead to nothing – the settings are reset after each reboot. In addition, when running games in full screen mode, a black screen and lag appear, which was not the case in the previous version 23H2.
Another user on the Microsoft community page also reported black screen issues when switching between apps using Alt+Tab on Windows 11 24H2. Both screens go dark for about 5 seconds before returning to normal. However, updating Nvidia drivers and BIOS did not solve the problem.
However, it is noted that such problems are quite expected, given that version 24H2 is still in the pre-release stage. It will still be some time before the stable version is released, so there may still be some bugs and glitches.
The forums offer the following solutions to problems: updating drivers, rolling back to version 23H2 (the most preferred option), or even completely reinstalling Windows. Some people recommend checking your display cables and settings, and using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to remove your display drivers.
