SK hynix announced the development of high-performance SSDs of the PEB110 family, designed for use in data centers. These drives are claimed to provide up to 2x faster performance and more than 30% improvement in energy efficiency compared to previous generation products.
The new products, made in the E1.S form factor, are equipped with a PCIe 5.0 interface. Capacities are 2, 4 and 8 TB. The drives are made on the basis of 238-layer 4D NAND flash memory chips. It says support for the OCP 2.5 specification. In addition, SPDM (Security Protocol and Data Model) technology is mentioned: it is responsible for secure authentication and server monitoring. Other technical characteristics have not yet been disclosed.
PEB110 series SSDs are designed to work with resource-intensive AI applications. The devices are currently being qualified by potential customers from large data center operators. Mass production of drives is planned to be organized in the second quarter of 2025.
«The new product is based on best-in-class 4D NAND memory, which boasts industry-leading performance, quality and cost,” said Ahn Hyun, Head of N-S Committee at SK hynix.
