Following a string of rumors, Japanese publisher and developer Konami has officially confirmed that last year’s remastered collection Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 will be continued.
Answering questions from viewers as part of the Metal Gear Production Hotline, Konami producer Noriaki Okamura revealed the publisher’s plans for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2.
According to Okamura, the remasters of MGS 2 and 3 from Vol.1 were based on already released re-releases, while the newer games in the series did not receive HD versions: “Some of them are in HD, but these are all very large projects, and they have their own difficulties “
Okamura also added that Konami will try to avoid the problems that abounded at the launch of Vol.2 with Vol.2. 1 – like the lack of basic functions and a fixed resolution of 720p on all platforms.
Due to all these obstacles, Konami is not yet ready to reveal the contents and release dates of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, but Okamura warns that it will take “some time” for the company.
Previously, IGN sources reported that Konami was planning to release Vol. 2 with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Okamura himself also hinted at the re-release of MGS 4.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 was released in October 2023 on PC (Steam), PS5, Xbox Series X, S and Nintendo Switch. The collection includes the first three MGS, both Metal Gears, Metal Gear for NES, Metal Gear: Snake’s Revenge and digital content.
