IPhone will finally be able to pause video recording

Even though the pause video recording feature is a basic feature that has been present on Android devices for a long time, it is still not available to iPhone owners. The good news is that that’s about to change, as iOS 18, which was announced as its final version earlier this week, introduces a feature to pause video recording in the Camera app.

For what reasons Apple did not implement the ability to pause video recording earlier remains a mystery. iPhone users could take photos while recording a video, but there was no way to pause it and then continue recording. It is curious that the previously released beta versions of iOS 18 did not contain the mentioned innovation, but it appeared in the iOS 18 Release Candidate build, which Apple released immediately after the announcement of the software platform.

After you pause video recording, a message appears at the top of the screen indicating that recording is paused. You can continue recording by clicking the corresponding button at the bottom of the screen. Note that when you pause the video, you can switch between the front and main cameras. However, you cannot exit the Camera application while paused; if you do this, the recording will automatically end and the video will be saved in the place where it was paused.

As for the release of the stable version of iOS 18, its distribution will begin on September 16. After the update, the software platform will provide access to a number of new features, including expanded options for customizing the home screen and Control Center. The main highlight of iOS 18 is the Apple Intelligence-powered features, but most of them will become available later when iOS 18.1 and iOS 18.2 become generally available.
