The German division of Amazon has confirmed the start date of sales of new motherboards based on AMD X870 and X870E chipsets – September 30. The first reviews of the new boards are expected to appear on the same day, writes VideoCardz.
AMD 800 series motherboards with Socket AM5 are designed for use with Ryzen 7000, Ryzen 8000 and the latest Ryzen 9000 processors. It is important to remember that for Ryzen 9000 series processors it is not at all necessary to buy a board based on the AMD 800 series chipset – boards with AMD 600 series logic is fully supported by the new processors. You just need to update the firmware of such boards. Most manufacturers have already released the necessary BIOS versions with support for new chips.
However, the new AMD 800 series motherboards will offer a number of distinctive features. They support Wi-Fi 7, have additional USB4 interfaces, provide support for faster memory, and also have an updated design. MSI, Asus, Gigabyte and ASRock have already presented their versions of boards based on AMD X870 and X870E chipsets.
Starting September 30, sales of only motherboards based on the X870 and X870E chipsets are expected. Models on the lower B850 and B840 chipsets will go on sale later – according to rumors, not earlier than the beginning of next year.
