Meta✴ Platforms company spoke more about its plans regarding the implementation of support for messaging with third-party services in WhatsApp and Messenger. After the entry into force of new European laws regarding the regulation of Internet services, Meta✴ is forced to provide users in the region with the ability to interact through WhatsApp and Messenger with third-party services.
The function of storing chats from different applications in one place will be rolled out gradually. Meta✴ will inform Europeans via in-app notifications when they have the option to merge chats across supported services. The company also said that the developers “went beyond” the basic functionality required to implement messaging with third-party services. They are preparing to offer users more features, including functions for sending reactions, direct replies to messages, indication while typing, read receipts, etc.
Next year Meta✴ will add the ability to create group chats with users of third-party services. Moreover, in 2027, the company intends to integrate support for audio and video calls from third-party applications. Further details have not yet been revealed, but it is clear that Meta✴ is working hard to comply with new laws in the European Union.
