Last month, Internet users spent 20% more time viewing content in Yandex video search than in August last year. These statistics are provided by the TASS news agency with reference to the company’s press service.
Users also began to turn to the service more often to search for videos—the number of search sessions increased by 25% year-on-year. At the same time, the number of users using the service both from computers and mobile devices increased by 20 percent.
The press service also noted an increase in the number of users who search the Internet using the Alice virtual assistant in Yandex smart devices and on the YaOS multimedia platform. The virtual assistant uses video search and displays its results on the display of a TV or smart speaker.
«The total number of video search users in August increased by 12% compared to the same period last year. Yandex analysts are observing further growth in service indicators, judging by data for the first days of September 2024,” the company’s press service said.
The company previously added several tools to video search to make it easier to find the content you need. Last month, a slow loading detector appeared in search, using algorithms to identify content that takes longer than usual to load and offering alternatives from other platforms. You can also now enable a filter on the service to see in search results only videos from those platforms where there are no problems with loading content, or simply exclude YouTube videos from search results. At the same time, in the search results, the service will show higher content that does not have problems with loading speed.
