Toshiba has introduced an updated series of 3.5-inch N300 hard drives with a SATA III interface for use in network-attached storage (NAS). New items are offered in volumes of 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22 TB.
Toshiba N300 HDD models with a capacity of 12 TB and above are filled with helium to reduce noise levels during operation. Moreover, all new products use traditional magnetic recording (CMR) technology.
For drives, the spindle speed is stated to be 7200 rpm. Depending on the model, they received a buffer with a capacity of 64 to 512 MB.
The new products use the SATA III (6 Gb/s) connection interface and provide sequential read speeds of up to 281 MB/s and write speeds of up to 268 MB/s. The failure time of Toshiba N300 HDD hard drives ranges from 1 to 1.2 million hours.
