Honor introduced the MagicBook Art 14 laptop with a removable magnetic web camera

Honor presented at IFA 2024 in Berlin not only the international version of the world’s thinnest foldable phone Magic V3, but also the MagicBook Art 14 laptop, the distinctive feature of which is a removable webcam.

The Windows laptop boasts impressively thin bezels, with a screen-to-body ratio of 97%, the manufacturer estimates. This was achieved thanks to a unique 1080p webcam, which is not built into the case, but is removable and fixed to the top of the lid using a magnetic mount.

When not in use, the camera can be stored in a tray on the side of the laptop. In operating mode, the computer owner can direct it at himself or at any other object that needs to be shown to the interlocutor.

Honor did not specify whether this camera will be sold separately if the complete copy is suddenly lost. But the company assured that the magnetic mount is reliable, and MagicBook Art 14 notifies the owner when it is attached or detached. Although, for reliability, a search system like Find My Device would be nice.

The technical characteristics of the Honor MagicBook Art 14 are pleasing, but they do not shine with originality. It is a 14.6-inch OLED display with 3.1K resolution, 3:2 aspect ratio and 700 cd/m² peak brightness. There is an Intel Core Ultra 5 or Core Ultra 7 processor, 16 or 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB solid-state drive and six speakers.

The battery has a capacity of 60 Wh; Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 are present; two USB Type-C ports, one of which is Thunderbolt 4, a USB Type-A 3.2 Gen 1 port; HDMI 2.1 output; 3.5 mm jack; as well as a fingerprint scanner built into the power button.
