The back covers are attached to the device using the Smart Pins system. The manufacturer offers the opportunity to create your own Fusion cases using 3D printing. The company has published all the necessary tools and documentation on its website. HMD itself will begin selling branded cases for Fusion in the fourth quarter of this year.

HMD Fusion is housed in a translucent plastic case and has an increased level of maintainability. The smartphone provides quick access to the battery, screen and other key components. HMD also promises to offer replacement parts for it through iFixit for the next seven years.

The Fusion features a 6.56-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1612×720 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. On the front of the new product there is a 50-megapixel camera. The main camera block consists of a 108-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel sensor for calculating scene depth. The main camera is equipped with electronic image stabilizer (EIS), supports night mode and AI HDR.

HMD Fusion is based on a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor (two Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of 2.2 GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 2.0 GHz, Adreno 613 GPU). The device offers 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of permanent memory. The capacity of the latter can be increased by supporting microSD memory cards. Everything runs Android 14. HMD promises two years of OS updates for the device and three years of security updates. The device is powered by a 5000 mAh battery with support for 33 W fast charging.

HMD Fusion will go on sale first in Europe. Its price will start from €249.
