«MSI at IFA 2024 introduces Claw 8 AI Plus, the first gaming device powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 2 processor running Windows 11 operating system with significantly improved AI performance. Sales of the device will begin in early 2025. Buyers of Claw 8 AI Plus will receive one month of Xbox Game Pass as a gift,” the company said.

Compared to its predecessor, the original MSI Claw with a 7-inch screen, the new Claw 8 AI Plus has an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz (with VRR support). The new product is also equipped with faster RAM LPDDR5X-8533 instead of LPDDR5-6400 and a more capacious battery of 80 Wh instead of 53 Wh.

Claw 8 Plus also received two Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports and supports the installation of NVMe drives of the M.2 2280 format. For comparison, the predecessor allows the installation of SSDs only of the more compact M.2 2230 format.

MSI has confirmed that with the release of the Claw 8 Plus, it will not remove the original Intel Meteor Lake-based Claw model from sale. The company also previously talked about plans to upgrade the original Claw model to Lunar Lake processors.
