His new position, as stated in the AMD press release, is referred to as “senior vice president of global AI markets.” According to the press release, Strier has more than 30 years of experience in strategic management and market development, technical development and expanding the artificial intelligence ecosystem. Considering that Nvidia controls more than 80% of the market for components for such systems, then this leader is a valuable acquisition for rival AMD. At Nvidia, Keith Strier was most recently responsible for corporate AI and foreign government relations. In his new position at AMD, he will be delegated similar powers; Strier’s immediate supervisor will be AMD Executive Vice President and CTO Mark Papermaster.

AMD CEO Lisa Su commented on the appointment: “Keith is a valuable addition to our leadership team, bringing deep market insight and extensive relationships that will significantly strengthen our engagement with AI customers around the world.” In her opinion, Keith Strier will help AMD promote its solutions in the field of artificial intelligence in the global market. Stier himself commented on his appointment with words about his readiness to contribute to the spread of AI in the market.

As Keith Strier served as Chairman of the Computing and Climate Expert Committee of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), his connections will help AMD advance its solutions in government initiatives to develop the AI ecosystem in different countries.
