Acer introduced the world’s first gaming monitor with a refresh rate of 600 Hz

Acer presented five new models of gaming monitors up to 27 inches in size at IFA 2024 in Berlin. Among the new products was a model with an outstanding refresh rate of 600 Hz. This is the fastest monitor on the market – previously displays offered frequencies up to 520 Hz.

The Nitro monitor series has been expanded with three new models with a refresh rate of more than 500 Hz: Nitro XV240 F6, Nitro XV270 F5 and Nitro XV270U F5. The most interesting model is the Nitro XV240 F6 with a 24-inch screen diagonal, which supports Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels) and an incredible refresh rate of 600 Hz. Screen brightness is 400 cd/m2.

To achieve such a high refresh rate, Acer uses a TN matrix in the new product, which are increasingly rare in gaming monitors, as the market is flooded with models with IPS, VA and, to a lesser extent, OLED panels. The maximum refresh rate of 600 Hz is only available through the DisplayPort connector. When using the HDMI port, the maximum refresh rate will be 240 Hz.

A little lower in the hierarchy of new products is the 27-inch Nitro XV270 F5. It is based on an IPS matrix with FHD resolution, a refresh rate of 520 Hz and a brightness of 400 cd/m2. Unlike the Nitro XV240 F6, the Nitro XV270 F5 can provide a 520Hz refresh rate not only via DisplayPort, but also via HDMI.

Finally, the 27-inch Nitro XV270U F5 model is equipped with an IPS matrix, supports WQHD resolution (2560 × 1440 pixels), 500 Hz refresh rate and 250 cd/m2 brightness. The specified refresh rate is available via HDMI and DisplayPort. All three presented Nitro series monitors support AMD FreeSync Premium image synchronization technology.

Predator XB273U F5

Acer also introduced two new models of Predator series monitors – Predator XB273U F5 and Predator XB273K V5. The first is equipped with a 27-inch IPS matrix with WQHD resolution and has a 360 Hz refresh rate, available via DisplayPort and HDMI connectors. The monitor has a brightness of 550 cd/m2 and 90% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. It also features new Nvidia G-Sync Pulsar picture synchronization technology, which combines Overdrive and Pulse Modulation technologies to improve picture quality and reduce motion blur.

Predator XB273K V5

The Predator XB273K V5 model is also equipped with an IPS matrix, but with a 4K resolution (3840 × 2160 pixels). The display refresh rate is 160 Hz. The XB273K V5 supports AMD FreeSync Premium, has a peak brightness of 400 cd/m2 and 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space.

Acer did not disclose the price of the Predator XB273U F5 monitor, but priced the Predator XB273K V5 at $499. In the US, the new product will appear in the fourth quarter of this year. Models Nitro XV240 F6 (600 Hz), Nitro XV270 F5 (520 Hz) and Nitro XV270U F5 (500 Hz) are priced at $599, $799 and $599, respectively. They will go on sale in the US and Europe in the first quarter of next year, in China they are expected in the fourth quarter of this year.

The manufacturer also introduced a new powerful gaming PC, the Predator Orion 7000. The company announced the use of “next-generation Intel processors” (probably referring to Arrow Lake-S). The new product uses the Predator CycloneX 360 LSS. The system offers up to 128 GB of DDR5-6000 RAM with support for XMP overclocking profiles, a hard drive of up to 4 TB, an NVMe drive of up to 6 TB and a GeForce RTX 4090 video card. The system is equipped with many ports, including USB 3.2 and Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C). The company did not provide information about the release date of Predator Orion 7000. The cost of the gaming system is also unknown.
