Until recently, Acer remained on the sidelines of the portable gaming console race. But today the company announced its first device in this category called Nitro Blaze 7, which could potentially become a competitor to the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally.

The developers equipped the Nitro Blaze 7 with a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. A panel with a peak brightness of 500 cd/m² and sRGB color space coverage of 100% is used. Support for AMD FreeSync Premium technology has been implemented.

The hardware basis of the new product is the AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS processor with eight cores, 16 threads, an operating frequency of up to 5.1 GHz and integrated AMD Radeon 780M graphics. The configuration is complemented by 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and an M.2 NVMe solid-state drive with a capacity of up to 2 TB. Autonomous operation is ensured by a 50 Wh rechargeable battery. A USB Type-C interface is provided to replenish energy.

The Nitro Blaze 7 does not have a touchpad, and there are also no buttons on the back of the case, which is unusual for devices in this category. We note the presence of two USB Type-C interfaces (top and bottom), thanks to which users will probably be able to choose a more convenient option for connecting the charger.

The audio subsystem includes a pair of 1 W speakers, and a 3.5 mm jack is provided for connecting a headset. The device supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless standards. The retail price of Nitro Blaze 7 and the start of deliveries have not been announced.
