MSI is primarily associated with gaming products, but at the upcoming IFA electronics exhibition in Berlin, the manufacturer will show the latest work and business laptops based on AMD Ryzen AI 300 and Intel Core Ultra Series 2 (Lunar Lake) chips. Only one model that MSI is going to show in the German capital will be a gaming one. The company will also present a second-generation portable gaming console, the Claw 8 AI+.
The gaming laptop is the MSI Stealth A16 AI+, which will offer AMD Ryzen AI 300 processors up to the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 model and GeForce RTX 40 series video cards up to the GeForce RTX 4070 model. The new product will receive up to 32 GB of RAM, a pair of slots for installing NVMe – PCIe 4.0 drives up to 2 TB each. In addition, the laptop will offer a choice of LCD or OLED screens with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels and a refresh rate of 240 Hz, or a Mini-LED panel with a resolution of 3840 × 2400 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It will also be equipped with a 99 Wh battery, a keyboard with RGB backlighting for each key, six speakers and a large touchpad. And all this in a case that is only 1.98 cm thick.
Other new MSI products based on AMD processors will be designed for work and business tasks. These include the Creator A16 AI+, Summit A16 AI+ and Prestige A16 AI+. Like the Stealth A16 AI+, Creator models will offer discrete GeForce RTX 40-series graphics cards. For the rest, the built-in GPUs will be responsible for graphics processing.
Gaming laptops based on MSI’s Lunar Lake processors are not expected, at least at IFA. The manufacturer will show three laptops from the Prestige business series (13 AI+ Evo, 14 AI+ Evo and 16 AI+ Evo), as well as the hybrid Summit 14 AI+ Evo, using new Intel chips.
Prestige models with 13- and 16-inch screens will be equipped with Lunar Lake chips up to the flagship eight-core Core Ultra 9 288V model with a frequency of up to 5.1 GHz. The model with a 14-inch screen will receive an eight-core Core Ultra 7 258V with a frequency of up to 4.8 GHz. All three devices will be made in lightweight cases made of magnesium-aluminum alloy. In turn, the hybrid Summit 14 AI+ Evo, which can also be used as a tablet, will be equipped with a 13.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels and an eight-core Core Ultra 7 258V. These laptops will be available for pre-order starting September 6th. Their deliveries are likely to begin towards the end of this month. According to Tom’s Hardware, MSI announced only preliminary prices for the new Prestige business laptops. They will start at approximately $1,299.
MSI also announced a series of Venture business laptops based on Core Ultra Series 2 processors. The series will be presented in models with screen diagonals of 14, 15.6, 16 and 17 inches. OLED displays with an aspect ratio of 16:10 and 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut will be available as an option. The manufacturer claims 100W USB-C charging for these laptops, but more detailed specifications have not yet been announced.
The only new gaming device from MSI powered by Intel Lunar Lake processors will be the Claw 8 AI Plus portable gaming console. Compared to its predecessor, in addition to the new chip, it received a second Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) port and a more capacious battery. The original Claw was not well received by critics. Reviewers criticized it for its poor performance and lack of optimization.
