Intel Gaudi 3 AI accelerators debut on IBM Cloud

Intel and IBM intend to actively cooperate in the field of cloud AI solutions. According to HPC Wire, access to Intel Gaudi 3 accelerators will be provided on the IBM Cloud starting in early 2025. The collaboration will also ensure Gaudi 3 is supported by the IBM Watsonx AI platform. IBM Cloud will be the first cloud service provider to adopt Gaudi 3 for both hybrid and on-premises environments.

The interaction of the companies will allow the implementation and scaling of modern AI solutions, and the combined use of Gaudi 3 with Xeon Emerald Rapids processors will open up additional opportunities for users in IBM clouds. Gaudi 3 will also be used in inference tasks on the Watsonx platform – customers will be able to optimize the execution of such workloads, taking into account the price-performance ratio.

To help customers across a variety of industries, including those in highly regulated industries, companies will offer IBM Cloud capabilities for flexible workload scaling, and the integration of Gaudi 3 into the IBM Cloud Virtual Servers for VPC environment will enable companies using x86 hardware to achieve faster and more secure performance. use your solutions than before integration.

It was previously reported that the Gaudi 3 model is ready to challenge NVIDIA accelerators. At one time, Intel made a statement about the 50% superiority of the new product in inference scenarios over the NVIDIA H100, as well as a 40% advantage in energy efficiency at a significantly lower cost. Intel later publicly disclosed the cost of the new accelerators, violating the unspoken rules of the market.
