The upcoming medieval action role-playing game Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 from the Czech Warhorse Studios will surprise you with the size of not only the open world (twice as large as in the first part), but also the script.
Director and lead writer Daniel Vavra said that the day before he and lead designer Prokop Jirsa were counting how many words had been written for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
According to Vavra, the size of the script for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was 2.2 million words, which is approximately 11 thousand printed pages. They are enough for 100 typical two-hour movie scripts or 25 average-length novels.
For comparison, the script for the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance was approximately 1 million words (see photo below for what it looks like), meaning the sequel was twice as long in this regard as well.
The Insider Gaming portal noted that the official Guinness record for the largest video game script belongs to the role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios – about 2 million words.
If Vavra and Jirsa’s calculations turn out to be correct, then Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is ahead of Baldur’s Gate 3 in terms of script size and in the future may become a new Guinness record holder.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be released on February 11, 2025 on PC (Steam, EGS), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. As part of the gamescom 2024 exhibition, the developers staged a 25-minute gameplay demonstration of the game.
