The latest beta version of iOS 18.1 received an AI function for removing objects from images

Apple continues to integrate AI-powered features into beta versions of its core operating systems, iOS, iPadOS, and next-generation macOS. This time, in iOS 18.1 beta 3, a feature called Clean Up was implemented for developers, which uses the capabilities of a neural network to remove unwanted objects from images.

The report says that the mentioned function makes it possible to remove user-selected objects from a photo without affecting the rest of the photo. The user only needs to click on the object that needs to be removed from the image, after which it will be removed literally with one touch. In addition to this, you can outline unnecessary objects or shade them with a brush.

According to available data, the Clean Up function uses a neural network to create a natural background in place of a distant object. According to the developers, the algorithm does a good job even when interacting with shadows or the reflection of the object being removed on any surface in the image.

Apple has been testing an initial set of Apple Intelligence AI features since July. To achieve this, new tools are being added to the beta version of iOS 18.1, which is available to developers. Currently, AI functions include the ability to generate and edit texts and messages, advanced email tools, photo editing tools, etc.
