OpenAI said the number of weekly active users of its AI chatbot ChatGPT now exceeds 200 million – double the number from a year ago. This achievement is all the more interesting given the fact that competition in the AI chatbot market is only growing.
ChatGPT remains the leader in generative AI chatbots, but it is an extremely competitive space as other major AI tech players are also releasing frequent updates to their solutions in hopes of capturing market share.
OpenAI also said that 92% of Fortune 500 companies use its products, and usage of its automated APIs has doubled since July, when the GPT-4o language model was introduced.
«People are now using our tools in their daily lives, making real changes in areas such as healthcare and education. Our solutions help with routine tasks, solving complex problems, or unleashing creativity,” commented OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to Axios.
The language model market remains fiercely competitive with companies such as Microsoft, Google, OpenAI and Meta✴, each of which is trying to get more people to use its AI products. Meta✴ previously reported a significant increase in downloads of its open-source Llama language models.
