The celebration of the 40th anniversary of the legendary Soviet puzzle game Tetris continues. Atari-owned Californian studio Digital Eclipse has announced a game collection called Tetris Forever.
Tetris Forever contains 15 classic versions of Tetris released over the past 40 years (some of which were never released outside of Japan) and a completely new game, Tetris Time Warp.
Among the included variations are the cult multiplayer game Tetris Battle Gaiden, the explosive Super Bombliss (the Japanese version of Tetris Blast), as well as the recreated original version of Tetris for the Elektronika-60 computer.
Tetris Time Warp allows up to four people to move through different eras of Tetris in real time to experience the game’s varied visuals and mechanics.
In addition to the games, Tetris Forever includes more than an hour of new documentaries that tell the “extraordinary yet true” story of Tetris.
In particular, they promise to shed light on the friendship and creative partnership between Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov and The Tetris Company founder Henk Rogers.
Tetris Forever is expected to be released in 2024 on PC (Steam, GOG), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch. This is the newest release in Digital Eclipse’s Gold Master Series, which includes The Making of Karateka.
