The Mail.ru platform, which is part of VK, announced a name change to Mail, an updated logo and design, as well as other large-scale external changes. The updated service will offer a fresh design for Mail, Cloud, Notes, Calendar, Shopping and other services. The platform’s mascot is also presented – the dog Byte.
At the same time, the Mail logo also changed, from which the “.ru” domain zone disappeared. In addition to this, updated blue and light green colors have been added to the color palette. “Technological changes in products and visual style are a response to a new stage of development and the demands of a young audience,” the Mail said.
In addition to the updated design, Mail acquired a mascot (mascot) – the white dog Byte. “Byte will tell you where to find a short retelling of the letter, tell you how to come up with an idea or shorten the text using a neural network, and also share life hacks on how to become more productive with Mail services,” the company said in a statement.
«Mail is no longer just mail. Now Mail is an ecosystem that combines neural network and ML tools, mail, cloud, services for productivity, organizing purchases, as well as planning business and leisure. Following technological changes, the time has come for visual updates,” Andrey Sumin, director of the Mail business unit, commented on this issue.
Mail.ru Group Corporation changed its name to VK in 2021. The choice of name was explained by the fact that VK is “the most universal brand” in the company’s ecosystem, as well as “the most recognizable and promising.” At the same time, some of the company’s services were renamed. For example, “Yula” became “VK Announcements”. In addition to this, new products have appeared that are common to all services of the group – “VK Music”, “VK Advertising”, “VK Games” and “VK Video”.
