As part of the Creation Mod Con 2024 festival, modders from the TESRenewal team held a broadcast during which they showed almost two hours of gameplay from Skywind, a remake of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind on the The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim engine.

In the demo you can see such locations as Balmora, Seyda Neen, Tel Branora, Kora-Dur, Suran, Sadrith Mora, Maran- Adon (Maran-Adon) and Vos (Vos). The authors not only recreate the world of the 2002 game from scratch, but also significantly expand it, removing obstacles and adding objects, details and even completely new places. For example, the creators completely redesigned Grazelands – in the original this region was almost empty.

New features were also mentioned, including a modular system for creating your own spells (work on it continues). The Shouts mechanic was redone (now it serves magic), but some features from Morrowind that were not included in Skyrim were returned. These include skeletal animations for creatures, an armor system with 14 equipment slots, and underwater combat – the latter of which was shown during the broadcast. After diving, players will be able to use weapons and spells, and the aquatic fauna will react to their actions and hide.

Finally, the video allows you to evaluate the voice acting. Unlike the original release, all dialogue in Skywind is voiced. Some lines have been changed to make the conversation smoother. The voices for the NPCs are recorded by a team of approximately 300 actors (no AI is used).

«We combine existing elements with new ideas to make Skywind unique,” said one of the authors under the pseudonym NewtonsFourth.

Like the previous ones, the new demonstration received a lot of rave reviews.

«The mod looks absolutely amazing,” wrote Tzfardi. “The immersion and overall performance is phenomenal.”

«“I’m more worried about Skywind and Skyblivion than the next Elder Scrolls,” admitted carlosmagnomacieira8210. “The modders know better than Bethesda what the fans want.”

Skywind does not yet have a release date, but in May the developers said that the release was “already on the horizon.” Earlier this month, the same group of modders shared new gameplay footage of Skyblivion, a remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim engine, scheduled for release in 2025.
