MSI has introduced the MPG 491CQPX ultra-wide curved gaming monitor. The new product is equipped with a 49-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 32:9 and a radius of curvature of 1800R. What makes the X model different from the previously released MPG 491CQP of the same format is its support for a higher refresh rate of 240Hz.
The MPG 491CQPX monitor is based on Samsung’s second generation QD-OLED matrix. However, MSI itself classifies the new product as the third generation of its OLED monitors.
The MPG 491CQPX supports a resolution of 5120 × 1440 pixels, has a response time of 0.03 ms (GtG) and a contrast ratio of 1.5 million:1. Typical screen brightness is 250 cd/m2 (in SDR mode). The display supports 10-bit color depth and has 99 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, as well as 146 percent coverage of sRGB and 98 percent coverage of Adobe RGB.
The native 240Hz refresh rate is supported by Adaptive-Sync technology with VRR (dynamic refresh rate change) function. In HDR mode, the peak screen brightness is 1000 cd/m2. The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black certified.
The equipment of the new product includes one DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.1, as well as one USB Type-C with alternative DisplayPort and 98 W charging functions. The monitor supports picture-in-picture mode and is equipped with a KVM switch. It also has a 3.5 mm audio output and a USB hub for two USB 2.0 Type-A and one USB 2.0 Type-B. In addition, it received an ergonomic stand with the ability to adjust the height of the screen above the table, as well as the angles of rotation and tilt. The new product claims to support OLED Care 2.0 protection technologies, as well as a guarantee against screen burnout. The passive cooling system of the monitor includes a custom radiator and a special graphene film.
According to information announced at the Gamescom exhibition, where the manufacturer is currently demonstrating this monitor, the MPG 491CQPX will go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year. Its recommended price is 1499 euros.
