Songs in the FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) format have appeared on the Yandex Music streaming platform, which provides compression without loss of sound quality. All users with a standard Yandex Plus subscription can listen to music in the new format without the need to connect additional options.

The FLAC format allows you to avoid sacrificing sound quality when compressing material. To enable its support on your device, you need to go to the sound settings in the desktop or mobile application and select “Excellent” quality – if this song is in lossless format, then this option will be selected. Collections of tracks in FLAC format also appeared in the “Trends” section; in the foreseeable future they will be able to be played on Yandex smart devices.
Three sound formats are available for Yandex Music users. “Economy” quality is suitable for users with limited traffic resources, a small amount of memory on the device and a slow Internet connection. “Optimal” implies balanced sound and is suitable for most devices on the mobile network. “Excellent” is recommended for listening to music on home and car systems, as well as high-quality headphones. All three options are available with a basic Yandex Plus subscription without additional payments.
