Developers from Techland presented a trailer for Dying Light: The Beast, a standalone adventure in the Dying Light 2 Stay Human universe. The announcement took place as part of the Opening Night Live 2024 presentation.
The narration in the new game will be told from the perspective of Kyle Crane, the protagonist of the original Dying Light. After being locked up for 13 years, he miraculously escaped from captivity and found himself in a world unfamiliar to him. After gaining freedom, the hero will have to “use the survival skills strengthened over the years in captivity to save even more people.”
Dying Light: The Beast takes gamers to the Castor Forest, a former tourist paradise now abandoned and infested with zombies. You can explore new locations using parkour skills or on an off-road vehicle.
«You were kept in a cage like an animal. Years of cruel experiences have taken their toll, but now the zombie DNA embedded in your own allows you to awaken your bestial strength. It flows through your veins, and no one can take it away from you. You will soon find out that this is not only a curse,” reads the official description of the project on Steam.
Developers from Techland explained that Dying Light: The Beast was originally created as a story addition to Dying Light 2 Stay Human. But after two years of work, the DLC has grown so much that it itself has transformed into a self-contained game.
Dying Light: The Beast will be released on PC (Steam, EGS), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S. Owners of the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2: Stay Human will receive the game for free.
