The developers of the turn-based strategy Inkulinati from the Polish studio Yaza Games presented their next project – a simulator of a medieval workshop for creating manuscripts Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts.
Players will have to manage their scriptorium: receive orders for the illustration of medieval books, decorate them to their liking, discover new tasks, decorations and items for furnishing the workshop.
Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts lets you create stunning, beautiful, or weird medieval illustrations. With time and practice, the work and fame of a user-controlled workshop can reach the queen herself.
Different clients will have different requests. Some will want depictions of grand battles between snails and dogs, others may prefer “quieter scenes of peace, love and plague.” More exotic orders are also expected.
They promise freedom of creativity, more than 1000 design elements (each based on a real one), the ability to export your creations and exchange medieval memes with friends. So far, only Polish and English have been announced.
The gameplay of Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts was inspired by Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, Sticky Business and Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator, and the game inherited the visual style from Inkulinati.
The release of Scriptorium: Master of Manuscripts is expected in 2025 on PC (Steam). With the new game, Yaza aims to bring “the joy of decorating medieval manuscripts with beautiful (or whimsical) illustrations” to a wider audience.
