When Microsoft announced that Sad Cat Studios’ retrofuturistic action-platformer Replaced would be playable at gamescom 2024, fans’ hopes of seeing the promised 2024 release were reignited, but not so.
Let us remind you that Replaced was presented in the summer of 2021 and was expected to be released in 2022. However, the spring before last the premiere was postponed to 2023, and last August to 2024. Now it’s time for another delay.
As it became known, Replaced is now planned for release in 2025. The developers called the previous release dates too optimistic, given the unique difficulties in the production of the project.
«We are proud to be creating something special, but we need more time to reach our quality standards and meet fan expectations,” reads the developer’s message regarding the transfer.
Sad Cat Studios recalled that Replaced participated in the Summer Game Fest 2024 in June, where it was available to selected journalists, and all visitors to the event will be able to play the gamescom 2024 demo.
For those who cannot come to the German exhibition (to be held from August 21 to 25 in Cologne), the creators of Replaced have prepared “something special.” The surprise will be revealed by the end of this week.
Replaced is being created for PC (Steam, EGS, Microsoft Store), Xbox One, Xbox Series X, S and Game Pass. Players take on the role of an AI, trapped in the body of a partner, to challenge the crime of Phenix City and find a place in an alternative America of the 1980s.
