Owlcat Games, known for Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, has announced that it is embarking on a new adventure – the studio will now not only develop games, but also publish them.
As publisher, Owlcat Games will help other studios tell compelling stories through story-driven games and RPGs that provide gamers with new and engaging experiences.
After reviewing more than 50 potential projects for collaboration, Owlcat signed contracts with two development teams – Emotion Spark Studio from Serbia and Another Angle Games from Poland.
Emotion Spark is working on a story-driven isometric RPG Rue Valley in the spirit of Disco Elysium. In the story, the hero gets stuck in a time loop and must deal with his psychological problems. The release is expected on Steam.
The Another Angle project is a turn-based role-playing game Shadow of the Road in the setting of feudal Japan with elements of magic (in the form of youkai) and steampunk (huge combat robots). Also created for Steam.
The press release mentions that Owlcat has also taken over the Meta✴ Publishing label, which helped the studio release Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. New games from him (Biped 2, Nested Lands) are expected to be shown at gamescom 2024.
Meanwhile, Owlcat itself has four games in development, one of which (a party-based RPG) is being created on Unreal Engine 5, has a much larger budget and will be noticeably more cinematic than the studio’s previous works.
