The Nextorage brand, owned by Sony, introduced a new series of compact NVMe solid-state drives G Series ME in M.2 2230 format for mini-PCs and portable game consoles. The presented new products are quite fast representatives in their SSD class.
For G Series ME drives, the manufacturer claims sequential read speeds of up to 7400 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 6200 MB/s. SSD performance in random read and write operations is stated at 750 thousand and 850 thousand IOPS, respectively.
Nextorage does not say which controller is used in the G Series ME drives, noting only its advanced characteristics and the absence of DRAM buffer memory. The new products also use 3D TLC NAND flash memory chips and SLC cache memory, which is formed from unallocated space on the SSD.
The Nextorage G Series ME drive series consists of 1 and 2 TB models. For the first, the manufacturer claims a resource of 600 TBW (terabytes of overwritten information), for the second – 1200 TBW. Both versions come with a five-year warranty.
The 1TB Nextorage G Series ME drive model is priced at approximately $149, and the 2TB version is priced at approximately $265. They are already available for sale in Japan. There is no information about the appearance of new products in other markets.
