The next generation of budget smartphone Apple iPhone SE may receive support for Apple Intelligence technology. According to The Verge, citing Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this could happen in 2025. Until now, AI features have only been available on the iPhone 15 Pro, but the entire iPhone 16 line is expected to receive Apple Intelligence this fall.
If the information is confirmed, then Apple’s most affordable smartphone will become much more attractive to buyers. Traditionally, the iPhone SE has offered a compromise – an affordable price and a fairly powerful processor in an outdated body (the latest SE uses the design of the iPhone 8).
However, the next SE is rumored to be built around the iPhone 14, ditching the large bezels and home button found on pre-iPhone X models. It might even feature a 6.1-inch OLED screen. Considering that Apple’s artificial intelligence features cannot run on the iPhone 15 due to insufficient power, we can assume that the next iPhone SE will have better performance.
While the soon-to-be-announced iPhone 16 will likely retain some of the perks like the dual camera and Action Button of the iPhone 15 Pro, those features likely won’t be available on the iPhone SE. However, these features may not be as important if the next-generation SE looks like the iPhone 14, has the same performance as the iPhone 16, and at the same time retains the attractive price characteristic of the SE series smartphones.
