OpenAI announced an innovation in its ChatGPT service. Free plan users will now be able to create up to two images per day using the DALL-E 3 model. This change is part of the company’s strategy to expand the functionality of its products.
DALL-E 3, launched in September 2022, was initially only available to paid ChatGPT Plus subscribers. Now the service has become available to a wider range of users, albeit with some restrictions. In addition to expanding the availability of the service, it also received new features. If previously it was necessary to formulate queries to create images yourself, now ChatGPT will help with this. You just need to ask him to write a thematic prompt. For example, Aditya Ramesh, lead researcher and head of the DALL-E team, asked ChatGPT to help him come up with a logo for a cafe located near the mountains. Then, based on this short query, ChatGPT wrote a longer, more detailed hint, and DALL-E suggested four possible images.
OpenAI said the free image creation feature with DALL-E 3 is in the process of being rolled out. Some users have already gained access to this feature. In particular, a journalist from The Verge was able to create two images in the ChatGPT Mac app before receiving a notification that he had reached his daily image creation limit.
OpenAI also made several other important announcements. The company provided a security assessment of its GPT-4o model, added a new member to the board of directors, and CEO Sam Altman received a letter from Democrats in the US Congress demanding clarification on OpenAI’s security issues.
