Samsung Galaxy S24 smartphones are popular largely due to the high performance and energy efficiency provided by the proprietary Exynos 2400 chip. Now the South Korean company has announced that the new generation Exynos 2500 chip will become the basis of the “American client” smartphone in the second half of the year. Industry experts believe that this client will be Google, and we are talking about future Pixel smartphones.
Earlier this month, the media wrote that Samsung has made significant progress in debugging the 3nm process technology used to produce Exynos 2500 chips. However, at the moment, the defect rate exceeds 80%, and for effective mass production it is necessary to have less than 40% defects. Despite this, during the recent Samsung Foundry Forum, the South Korean company assured stakeholders that the debugging of the 3nm process is proceeding in full accordance with what was originally planned.
Samsung wants to begin mass production of Exynos 2500 chips in the second half of this year. The company’s new processor is expected to be the basis for future flagship Galaxy S25 smartphones. As for the partnership with Google, Samsung has long been collaborating with the American company within the Android ecosystem. If future Pixel smartphones are indeed equipped with Exynos 2500 chips, then for the two companies this will mean a deepening of the partnership and a show of mutual trust in Samsung technologies.
As the smartphone market remains fiercely competitive, Samsung’s efforts to improve its Exynos chips are part of a larger strategy to maintain a competitive edge. Consumers expect each new generation of chips to be more powerful and energy efficient, so Samsung’s work to improve its background processors is an important focus.
