After a recent leak that Xiaomi is allegedly developing a single switch to enable/disable system advertising, a company representative denied this information. But the company promised to reduce the number of pre-installed applications, which are often called bloatware.

Many Xiaomi phones offer good value for money, but in exchange, owners have to put up with intrusive advertising right in the user interface. Advertising can be disabled, but this requires quite a lot of manipulation. We even published a guide a couple of years ago on how to minimize advertising in system applications. The company itself had previously promised to abandon intrusive advertising, but did not keep its word.

Of course, a single toggle for system-wide advertising would be more affordable and useful than the current approach. Currently, users need to disable the MSA app, which is hidden deep in the settings menu. However, this does not disable advertising in system applications, so you need to go to the settings menu of each application (File Manager, Music, Downloads…) to disable it.

A recent leak claimed that Xiaomi is working on implementing a single switch in the interface to get rid of system ads, but the company has denied this claim. A Xiaomi representative answered questions from journalists on this topic. According to him, the company is “re-optimizing its business strategy in this regard to improve the user experience by reducing pre-installed applications. Users should see these results fairly soon in our future flagships.”

«However, our philosophy is to make changes that are easily accessible and useful to all users, so we currently have no plans to add a switch that will essentially only be discovered and used by a small number of users,” he added. This profound phrase would do credit to any senior marketer in the world.

Users will certainly be disappointed that HyperOS or MIUI will not have a universal tool for disabling system advertising in the near future.
