Battlefield has been going through hard times lately: active support for the newest game is being curtailed and one of the development studios is closing. Electronic Arts has high hopes for the next part of the series.

Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson spoke about the future of Battlefield as part of the company’s recent financial report. According to him, this is “one of the most ambitious projects in our history.”

«The community is inspired by the work of our teams and is looking forward to what will happen next. This is not only one of [Electronic Arts’] top priorities, but also one of the most ambitious projects in our history,” Wilson said.

Despite the closure of Ridgeline Games in February, Wilson called the team for the next Battlefield “the biggest in franchise history” in May. DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and now Motive Studio are working on the future of the series.

«We have assembled the best team possible, along with all the resources and technology they need to create an epic Battlefield,” Wilson said almost three months later.

Wilson also said that each of the seven seasons of Battlefield 2042 has proven the team’s ability to “listen, learn and be inspired by fans.” The audience for games in the series over the past year has exceeded 25 million people.

It was previously reported that the future of Battlefield is connected to its single universe, which includes new multiplayer and single-player elements. According to rumors, the release is planned for October 2025.
