Insider: Avowed won’t release in 2024 due to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl

The fantasy role-playing game Avowed from developers from the Microsoft-owned studio Obsidian Entertainment (the Pillars of Eternity, The Outer Worlds duology) is due to be released in 2024, but it seems that it will not make it on time.

Let’s remember that the January trailer for Avowed promised a release in the fall of 2024, and the June publication mistakenly contained the release date – November 12. It was supposed to be announced at Xbox Games Showcase 2024, but for some reason they changed their minds.

According to The Verge senior editor Tom Warren, citing his own sources, Obsidian is currently preparing to announce the postponement of Avowed to early 2025.

The quality of the project has nothing to do with the future delay: according to Warren, Avowed is in “good condition.” They allegedly want to find a more profitable release period for the game.

The recent transfer of the post-apocalyptic shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl on November 20 loaded the last month of autumn on Xbox – the GSC Game World project, like Avowed, plans to add it to the Game Pass subscription at launch.

Warren did not specify when to expect the announcement of Avowed’s “moving” to early 2025, but at the end of August the game will become part of Microsoft’s program at gamescom 2024 – the project will have an exclusive presentation for guests of the event.

Avowed is being created for PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X and S, as well as Game Pass. They promise a story in the world of Eora from Pillars of Eternity, the consequences of decisions made, memorable companions and a wide selection of weapons.
