Minecraft has teamed up with Tetris in an unusual addition

Two of the best-selling video games in history have come together in an unusual crossover: Mojang Studios’ block sandbox Minecraft has released a Tetris add-on based on the legendary Soviet puzzle game.

The DLC sends players into the Tetris universe to fight tetrimons and look for stolen tetrominoes – those same geometric figures of four squares that fall from above into a rectangular glass.

The adventure begins with a round of classic 2D Tetris. The block field remaining after the game turns into a three-dimensional matrix dungeon, hiding the missing tetrominoes and numerous other secrets.

In addition, the classic 2D Tetris is available to play separately (in the lobby) in Marathon, Sprint and Ultra modes. For particularly high results, you can earn trophies.

The developers add that all gameplay modes in the new DLC are available for cooperative play (that is, multiplayer). The Tetris add-on can be found on the Minecraft market (costs 1510 coins).

It is worth noting that this is not the first crossover of the two franchises: on June 6 (on the 40th anniversary of Tetris), an add-on with tools, items, enemies and blocks in the Tetris style was released for Minecraft.

According to the official Tetris website, total sales of different versions of the puzzle have exceeded 520 million copies. Meanwhile, Minecraft last fall became the first single game to break the barrier of 300 million copies sold.
