The Chinese company Cixin Technology introduced the Cixin P1 (CP8180) processor for consumer laptops, equipped with an NPU with AI performance of up to 45 TOPS. According to ITHome, Cixin took 15 months to develop, four months to prepare for production and another three to test its first AI-enabled chip.
The Cixin P1 is based on an Arm architecture similar to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite processors. The chip is manufactured using a 6-nm process technology and contains 12 processor cores (eight high-performance and four energy-efficient) with a maximum frequency of up to 3.2 GHz.
Key features of Cixin P1 processor:
- Up to 45 TOPS AI compute performance, matched by AMD Ryzen AI 300, Intel Lunar Lake and Qualcomm Snapdragon X processors;
- Full compatibility with the Copilot Plus PC platform;
- Support for up to 64 GB of LPDDR5-6400 RAM;
- Supports displays with resolutions up to 4K and 120 Hz refresh rate;
- PCIe 4.0 interface support;
- USB Type-C interface support.
The characteristics of the chip look quite competitive compared to solutions from other companies, at least “on paper”, but there are no test results for this processor yet. The manufacturer only claims that the new product provides excellent performance, is compatible with an extensive software stack, copes well with AI tasks, and will provide laptops with high autonomy.
