The release of the Shadow of the Erdtree addon for Elden Ring caused a new wave of complaints from players about the complexity of FromSoftware’s action role-playing games, but one dissatisfied gamer decided to take his outrage to court.
Recently, screenshots from a topic on the 4Chan imageboard began to circulate on social networks, in which a user under the pseudonym Nora Kisaragi announced that he had filed a lawsuit in a Massachusetts court against Bandai Namco.
The claim really exists and belongs to the category of small claims ($2-5 thousand). The applicant is Evan Forrester Waugh – apparently the alter ego of Nora Kisaragi – and a hearing is scheduled for September 25.
According to the plaintiff, due to their complexity, FromSoftware projects, including Elden Ring, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Bloodborne, hide “entire new games” inside that are inaccessible to even the most hardcore fans.
«You will be forced to realize: the hackers lied to you that the content was cut out, when in fact it was simply not detected,” the applicant is sure. He doesn’t believe that various elements are actually cut out of games during development.
The players laughed at the 4Chan plaintiff and questioned his mental health. “If you go deep into the cave from [Elden Ring], at the other end there will be Sonic Adventure 2 Battle,” jokes KarlGerm in X.
There is a high probability, given the nature of the claims, that the lawsuit will end in nothing. Reddit is already imagining how the judge will dismiss the case after Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki said that the applicant was simply not good enough at the game.
