The Windows Central portal noticed that Microsoft-owned British developer Playground Games (new Fable, Forza Horizon series) has opened another division for the first time in the last seven years.

Let’s remember that Playground Games was founded in 2010 to work on Forza Horizon and opened its second branch in 2017, even before the studio was acquired by Microsoft – this happened in 2018.

As Windows Central journalists noted, recently the official Playground Games page on LinkedIn mentions not two, but three studios (all located in the British city of Leamington Spa).

How the third Playground Games studio differs from the other two and how many people work in it is unclear

«At our headquarters, we support and grow a large and vibrant Horizon community. And in new studios on the other side of town, we are developing Fable, a new beginning for the legendary series,” reads the updated description.

At the same time, as noted in Video Games Chronicle, the description of Playground Games on its official website remains unchanged and still mentions only two studios. Windows Central has reached out to Microsoft for comment.

Canadian Eidos Montreal is officially helping in the development of Fable

Playground Games’ latest release, the open-world arcade racer Forza Horizon 5, is slated for 2021. Since then, the project has managed to attract over 40 million people.

Playground is currently working on Fable, a reboot of the acclaimed fantasy role-playing series. Its premiere is scheduled for 2025. According to rumors, we are talking about the fourth quarter (from October to December).
