Publisher Take-Two Interactive, which recently owns Gearbox, confirmed the development of a new Borderlands back in March, but there is still no full announcement. However, it looks like the wait won’t be long.
Gearbox co-founder and CEO Randy Pitchford admitted in an interview with GamesRadar and The Gamer: “I haven’t been very good at hiding the fact that we’re working on big projects.”
«I’m sure our fans will be very, very excited about the next video game we introduce. And I can tell you that we will not make people wait too long for the announcement,” Pitchford assured.
The exec “can’t talk” about Borderlands 4, although he really wants to: Currently, “the best and biggest team is working on exactly what our fans want from us.”
In addition, in an interview, Pitchford confirmed that the action-comedy film Borderlands, scheduled for premiere next week, based on Borderlands, will receive a sequel.
According to Pitchford, the official announcement of the Borderlands sequel could be made before the end of this year. “We’ll see, maybe sooner,” the director intrigues film fans.
Pitchford also hinted that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, released in the spring of 2022, could also have a sequel – it was revealed by an ex-Gearbox employee last fall. The fantasy looter shooter outsold the original Borderlands.
