Developers from the German studio Keen Games (Portal Knights) announced the release of the third major update for the cooperative action role-playing game with survival elements Enshrouded, which is in early access.
The Back to The Shroud patch, updating Enshrouded to v.0.7.3.0, includes changes based on player feedback, such as more flexible difficulty settings.
With the release of Back to The Shroud, the game added five difficulty levels for solo and cooperative playthroughs:
- Relaxed – fewer enemies, more resources;
- Basic – recommended for beginners;
- High – there are more enemies, they are more aggressive, and the battles are more difficult;
- Survival – additional survival mechanics, the most aggressive opponents;
- Custom – allows you to customize all gameplay aspects (about 30 in total) for yourself. If desired, the indicators can be turned up by at least 500%.
In addition, collectible items (like fossils) have been scattered throughout the game world, which, along with armor sets, can now be displayed in your home, and new hero customization options have also been added.
Finally, Keen Games has made additional adjustments to combat balance (parrying and blocking should now work better) and has implemented support for AMD FSR 3 scaling in Enshrouded.
Enshrouded Early Access started on January 24th on Steam. In four days, sales of the game exceeded 1 million copies, a month later they reached 2 million, and by the release of Back to the Shroud they were close to 3 million.
Since the start of early access, Enshrouded has received more than 47 thousand “very positive” reviews on Steam (86% rating). A full release and launch on consoles is expected in 2025.
