Short video platform TikTok has introduced a new feature that lets you discover songs simply by humming them or playing the tune. This will greatly facilitate the search for the desired track, the name and artist of which the user does not know.

The new feature is called Sound Search. With its help, the user can find the desired song by singing or playing it. Since the TikTok platform is designed to play videos, the app will also show popular videos of the song found. Although TikTok told TechCrunch that the feature was designed to search for songs, the source discovered that it can also be used to find sounds and memes created by users of the video service, such as the “Nobody’s gonna know” sound. To launch the new feature, you need to tap on the microphone icon in the search tab of the TikTok app.
The company also told TechCrunch that the new feature is currently only available to some users in select regions and is not yet generally available. In which regions you can use the new function of the video service is still unknown.
The Sound Search feature is somewhat similar to YouTube Music’s song discovery tool, which also allows the user to determine the name of a song by humming or playing it. In turn, the popular Shazam service recognizes a song only if it can be played.
